Not so long ago, a fresh and local group of creatives was formed, sprouting up on social media and refusing to be ignored! They call themselves WITA: Women in the Arts, Lincoln. They aim to unite female talent from around the City, and pooled a variety of us ladies together for their first (fantastic) Showcase. I was super excited to be invited to take part, knowing a handful of the people involved, and that having their support and encouragement was a beautiful thing! You can follow WITA activity on Facebook here and Instagram here.

Besides the Artists Market, there were musical performances, burlesque, comedy and spoken word, a DJ, face painting … not to mention the cake! This event aptly fell on International Women’s Day, 2018, and was held at the beautiful Blue Room at the Lawns, which I didn’t know existed!

The event sold out in great time and I can safely say it was a night to remember! Hopefully there’ll be plenty more events from this lively trio of organisers. I have to say, it was fantastic to watch women completely owning it and meeting so many more fantastic characters. I made a hearty amount of sales and even more connections!

I’m pleased to say I didn’t take much of my stock back home once the night was over (besides the cans, which I’m always hesitant to part with). Here are some photos of my collection from the evening:

It makes me so happy that I was able to be part of something else giving females the spotlight, since the last was Femmes of the Fens a few years back! Listening to the performances and reading some of the responses made me emotional, we laughed, we cried, we shared and united. Girl Power!
